TRAVEL PHOTOGRAPHY AT HANIA

How a traveling experience is translated into images.

Travel photography attempts to explore the relationship between the photographer and the places he visits, by translating his experiences and feelings into images. During the seminar participants are called to explore their ideas and aesthetic at the town of Hania.

Program:

Friday 1st June

10.00am – 12.00pm Yiannis Rizomarkos
In the first part of the seminar, the instructor will focus on issues related to technique, equipment, research and planning the shots. He will explain how different types of photography compose travel photography and will present alternative ways of approaching issues.

12.30pm – 14.30pm Frantzeskos Karagiannopoulos
In the second part of the presentation, emphasis will be given on the development of personal artistic eye and artistic approach of the place. Tasks will be assigned to the participants for the rest of the seminar.

Saturday 2nd June 14.00pm – 17.00pm
On the second day of the seminar, the instructors will monitor the progress of the tasks in private meetings, will guide and advise participants to subsequently improve their technique and aesthetic.

Sunday 3rd June 19.00pm – 22.00pm
During the last meeting, the instructors will analyze the best images taken those three days. The conclusions allow participants to develop their personal approach to travel photography.

The broad aims of the workshop are:

  • To guide participants, through technical and theoretical analyzes of how to reflect the special character of each place.
  • To turn traveling into stimulus for ”powerful” images, even with limited time and under particular conditions.
  • To make participants realize that travel photography has more to do with the trip rather than the actual photograph.

Who is it for:

The workshop is addressed to beginners and experienced photographers as well, who own a DSLR camera and a tripod.

Dates: Departure Thursday May 31st at night – Return Tuesday June 5th in the morning. (Monday 4th June Bank Holiday)
Cost: 360€ in double room, 340€ in triple room, 310€ in four-bed room. VAT not included. Payment is made in 2 equal installments.
Registration: Registrations are extended for a limited number of seats.
Includes: Tickets, 3 overnight stay at Theresa Pension on the old Venetian harbour, and the seminar attendance.
Participants should bring their laptops for image processing.
